CALLING ALL ASPIRING UMPIRES – YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!
DHUA are offering FREE places on the next Level 1 Umpiring Course at Exeter Uni on Sunday 15th March, without the necessity for formal registration & payment process via the England Hockey website.
As a Club fielding 8 league teams I can nominate up to 4 candidates for the Course – BUT I do need to prioritise folk who are going to be around (as Club Members) for a good 3-4 years at least, allowing them to make a positive contribution as Club umpires. I’m particularly interested in the more mature players amongst the membership, who would be willing to add another hockey skill to their CV.
SOHC’s stock of umpires constantly needs replenishing from season to season – apart from just keeping our umpires numbers up, we need enough to be comfortable with giving existing umpires the option to develop further by going over to DHUA Pool umpiring, if that is their wish (as has happened this season with Peter Rider).

Note that there will also be a Course at Plymouth Marjon on Sunday 29th March, offering more free places.
The courses are compressed into just the one day, normally running from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm.
