Level 1 Umpiring Course (Exeter Uni, Sunday 11th Nov)

20/09/2018

The next Exeter-based umpiring course has been announced.

where: University of Exeter Sport Park, Stocker Road, Exeter

when: SUNDAY 11TH NOV 2018.

duration: from 9am to 4:40pm.

deadline for (online) registration:   31st Oct 2018.

Most certainly the Club does have a need for more umpires at the moment and Mike Dutton is aiming to get 2 or 3 club members onto this course; please consider carefully whether you are able to help the Club by qualifying.

Becoming an umpire will not, an any way, affect your playing committments and, in the early stages (first season or two), you will only need to complete a minimum of 3 umpired games per season to keep your “active” status going. Anybody attending the course will come away with a “Level 1 un-assessed” qualification, allowing them to umpire almost immediately at most levesl within our Club (except Men’s and Ladies 1st XIs.

The course fee (payable online) is currently about £50; it will be refunded to you when you have umpired five  league or friendly games for the Club.

If you are at all interested, please contact Mike Dutton who will help to set you on the path towards becoming an umpire; the registration for the course is completed online (England Hockey website). Mike will also be responsible, following on from the course, for managing your development as an umpire, initially mentoring your umpired games whenever possible.
