England Hockey Notice.
On behalf of England Hockey and the hockey community, we are deeply saddened by the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and offer our sincerest condolences to the whole royal family and our patron HRH Countess of Wessex, the Queen’s daughter-in-law.
With gratitude for your tireless efforts over decades of public service and for all you have given to communities across the UK and the world.
The guidance below has been put together to support clubs, players and other hockey activity during this period of mourning.
Please note that official guidance is due from government relating to the rest of the period of mourning and the funeral which is expected to take place on Monday 19 September.
- While we await official guidance on the implications of sport, we have had no indication that community sport should stop for this weekend 10/11 September 2022
- Therefore, we recommend that you continue with training, pre-season friendlies or other hockey activities as you see fit during this period
- If you decide to continue with activities, we recommend the use of black armbands or black ribbons and a 2 minute silence before the activity commences as a mark of respect
England Hockey will update this guidance on Monday 12 September 2022
