Our Club needs a few new umpires, and that could be you!!
We also need another EH-accredited Umpire Developer (courses also available online for £10 only) to add to the one we already have, Mike Dutton. Suggest that we need a club umpire who has had at least 3 years umpiring under his/her belt.
England Hockey currently offers plenty of online Umpiring Courses, including Level 1 Umpiring Courses (minimum age 14), a few Umpire Developer Courses and a few Introduction to Umpiring Courses.
For full details on registration for a course, please go to the relevant England Hockey page. You will need to create an England Hockey online account, with password – that’s the really easy bit!
For a full list of dates available, please link to the England Hockey page above. Times of the courses vary (morning, afternoon or evening) and they last only 90 minutes, after which you come away with a Certificate. Job done! Mike Dutton will then make it his business to manage your further development in club umpiring.

The Level I Umpiring Course (£30) is designed for anyone who is going to be umpiring the 11-a-side game and is delivered fully online. Attendees must be at least 14 years old. Our Club remains committed to a policy of offering to reimburse the cost of the course after a minimum of five competitive games have been umpired. – and there’s no time limit.
- You will need to complete the Online rules test before attending (takes about 50-60 mins or as long as you like, with breaks, and it’s impossible to fail)
- The course is made up of 4 modules:
- The game from a players’ perspective
- The role of the umpire
- Player management
- Preparation and planning the next steps
- Once attended the course you will receive your Level 1 Unassessed Umpires Certificate.
Umpire Developer Course (£10 ONLY). Attendees must be at least 18 years old.
Introduction to Umpiring Course (£10 ONLY). Attendees must be at least 12 years old.
